214 Arhat Sukhasannidhāna (Joyful Hidden)


Though racking one's brains to obtain something, if it goes against reason, there will surely be no reward. Therefore, one should forget about fame and fortune; perhaps fishing by the river is more leisurely.


For those who receive this verse, one's efforts are painstaking, but due to unreasonable methods, it is difficult to achieve one's desires. In such a situation, it is better to let go of attachments and learn from Jiang Taigong fishing – those who wish will take the bait.
