293 Arhat Guṇalabha (Virtue of Self-Mastery)
Instead of leaving thousands of taels of gold to your descendants, it is better to leave a cartload of good books. Gold only fosters laziness and is easily exhausted; but books contain golden houses, inexhaustible treasures of wisdom.
For those who receive this verse, there has been a shift in values, focusing too much on material life and neglecting cultural cultivation. One should enrich their inner self, read more, and learn to improve their inner cultivation.
