323 Arhat Lokanātha (Residing in the World)

When fortune is bad, one always sighs; when opportunity comes, one is always joyful and radiant. Such is the human condition, always difficult to escape the bonds of sorrow and joy, separation and reunion.

For those who receive this verse, one lacks stability. When out of luck, one sighs and complains; when in luck, one becomes complacent and arrogant. Both mindsets are extremely harmful. Remaining calm amidst favor or disgrace, and maintaining a balanced and peaceful state, is the correct and mature way to live.
