342 Arhat Saṃpratigrāhaka (Praising Vows)


Even with wealth and glory, one must maintain continuous prosperity and not be arrogant. As the saying goes, "Thirty years in the east of the river, thirty years in the west of the river"; worldly affairs are unpredictable, and anything can happen.


For those who receive this verse, one should be prepared for adversity and never be complacent. When one's career takes a turn for the better and wealth and glory are already theirs, the art of preservation must not be neglected. Worldly affairs are unpredictable. Since an iron tree can blossom, a tree's flowers will naturally wither and dry. Such things must always be guarded against by those who have achieved success.
