352 Arhat Guṇamitra (Cultivating without Virtue)
Flowers planted intentionally are hard to survive; willow branches planted unintentionally grow to provide ample shade. Success or failure in matters often has nothing to do with painstaking effort. Let nature take its course, and do not care about immediate grievances or gains and losses. Let later generations judge right and wrong, merits and faults.
For those who receive this verse, one needs to reflect on whether they are overly attached to something, or too concerned with grievances and gains and losses. In life, the subjective and objective worlds are not entirely unified, and there are many contradictions between them. The correct attitude is to reflect on the reasons for gains and losses, and the correct mindset is to view them calmly.
