396 Arhat Kalyāṇamitra (Good Knowledge)
The clear stream flows windingly forward, bright and pure, unstained by dust. An upright character and a magnanimous mind are also like a clear mountain spring, pure and undefiled, flowing happily, without worries.
For those who receive this verse, one should know that a gentleman's demeanor is like jade, while a petty person's heart is cold as frost. A gentleman is open and upright, while a petty person is often troubled. By this, one can discern gentlemen and petty people; by this, one can cultivate oneself to achieve the demeanor of a gentleman.
