425 Arhat Avyāhatacarya (Unobstructed Conduct)

A fierce fire can burn itself down, and even a weak small fire can bring ultimate disaster. Therefore, if actions are extreme, they may lead to disaster. One should adhere to the Middle Way to ensure a lifetime of peace.

For those who receive this verse, one is mostly a person of volatile temper, easily impulsive. It is advisable to examine one's own behavior and calm one's mind. Do not get angry over big matters, nor belittle them; do not be impatient over small matters, nor ignore them. Always be calm and unhurried, always impartial. Then a small fire can warm the body, and a fierce fire can inspire.
