442 Arhat Anantapratibhāna (Observing the Boundless)

To enjoy shade under a tree, one must first plant the tree; to harvest fruit, one must often care for the flowers. Owls often bring bad news, and spring swallows only build nests and perch in auspicious households.

For those who receive this verse, one often daydreams and fantasizes about unearned gains. Such good fortune is not entirely absent in the world, but it is truly rare and hard to come by. Therefore, working honestly and laboring diligently is the fundamental principle of life. Fruit comes from planting, wealth comes from pursuit, and a beautiful life must rely on arduous effort.
