494 Arhat Prajñāvṛddhi (Increasing Wisdom Broadly)
Heaven rewards diligence; success is not easily obtained. Opportunities always belong to those who are rigorous in style and diligent in learning, not to those who are lazy, cunning, or resort to trickery. Success will naturally come when the time is right; contending over its speed is meaningless.
For those who receive this verse, one's mind is troubled, and one's mindset is imbalanced, always envying others' achievements and fantasizing about one's own glory, which inevitably leads to accomplishing nothing. Instead of envying others' gains, it is better to be down-to-earth and strive diligently oneself. Only then can you succeed.
